[-> http://docs.lib.purdue.edu/jca/] Brad Codr, Editor, JCA _ Purdue University _ Department of Anthropology _ 700 West State Street _ West Lafayette, IN 47907 AIMS AND SCOPE The Journal of Contemporary Anthropology is a peer-reviewed, open-access, scholarly publication developed and operated by graduate students in anthropology. The journal promotes innovative graduate student research and offers an opportunity for students to gain professional experience in the publication process. The Journal of Contemporary Anthropology is an outlet for in-depth discourse on a wide range of topics, theories, and methods related to anthropology. While the publication is grounded in anthropology we welcome submissions from a variety of disciplines. The journal is published annually in the fall and submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. Our goal is publish innovative graduate student research related to anthropology. We believe that students can offer unique insight into significant academic and societal issues. We not only ask for research articles, but reflective thought pieces based on personal classroom and field experiences. In addition, graduate students become highly knowledgeable in their given fields of study, thus should be key contributors of critical book reviews. While our primary goal is to foster graduate student publication, we also offer students an opportunity to gain professional experience in the publication process. Students act as peer-reviewers and editors of the journal. Thus, the journal aims to not only be a channel for publication but also a viable hands-on resource for students and the broader academic community. Finally the Journal of Contemporary Anthropology aims to capitalize on shifts in the dissemination of research. As an open-access journal our goal is to increase the availability of research results and offer a dynamic structure for fostering dialogue. As an online journal we plan to explore the possibilities of multimedia enhancements in formats that will allow readers to connect with research and increase the relevancy of findings to their everyday lives.
